Energy Services

Solve The Puzzle of High Energy Bills and Indoor Air Quality with a Whole House Comfort Checkup.

Barron Heating provides state of the art inspections, testing and analysis of your home with the latest cutting edge equipment. We view each “Home as a System”. Our equipment and expertise allows us to make very accurate analysis of your home. “Home as a System” is the only type of energy audit that you should have performed; your home is a very complicated system and is the biggest investment that you will make. Making sure that it operates efficiently, comfortably and safely are important reasons for an Home Performance Assessment.

An energy audit can result in savings on utility bills to the home owner of between 20 and 50 percent. With the ever rising cost of utilities, this adds up to significant savings year in and year out. Additional advantages are the improvement of the comfort andindoor air qualityof your home. This will also have an impact on the environment, which is something that we should all care about.

Utility Bill Analysis

Analyzing 12-24 months of utility bills is a very powerful way of determining where you are spending money on power to operate your home. The home is a very complicated system and without knowing where your utility dollars are going, how do you know what will give you the best return on investment? Barron can assist in creating a baseline utility cost to compare energy saving investments against.

Perform an Infiltrometer Test

The Blower door is a very powerful diagnostic tool designed to measure the air tightness of buildings (homes) and to help locate air leakage pathways. Building air tightness measurements are used for a variety of purposes including:

  • Documenting the construction air tightness of buildings.
  • Estimating natural infiltration rates of houses.
  • Measuring and documenting the effectiveness of air sealing activities.
  • Measuring duct leakage in forced air distribution systems.

Thermographic Imaging - IR Cameras

Using thermographic imaging, we can see right through your walls to locate trouble areas. Infrared Thermography is the latest most sophisticated analytical tool in the energy auditor’s tool kit. However, the tool is only as good as the operator and at Barron Heating we use the latest state of the art Fluke Thermal I.R. Cameras. Thermal cameras are a powerful tool in viewing wall cavity insulation, ceiling insulation, moisture related issues or problems. Used in conjunction with the Blower Door, this tool is very powerful in locating voids in the thermal boundary of the home.

Duct Leakage and Repair

Air leakage in forced air duct systems is now recognized as a major source of energy waste in both new and existing houses and commercial buildings. Why Is Duct Leakage Important? Studies indicate that duct leakage can account for as much as 25% of total house energy loss, and in many cases has a greater impact on energy use than air infiltration through the building shell. In many light commercial buildings, duct leakage is often the single largest cause of performance and comfort problems.

Indoor Humidity and Moisture Control

Moisture can lead to mold, and mold can affect your health. Moisture Analysis is a very important and is an often overlooked step in the energy analysis. Moisture issues often cause more problems to the homeowner, because the problems generally are hidden or the homeowner does not realize how bad the situation really is. Moisture can over time lead to several health and building durability issues.

Combustion Gas Analysis

Analyzing flue gas at the hot water heater and other fossil fuel appliances. Combustion Analysis and combustion safety are one of the main focal points in the energy audit. Many times homeowners are unaware that they have problems with their combustion equipment (e.g. furnace, water heater, clothes dryer and gas stove). These items have not been serviced on a routine basis and these items require make up air to operate efficiently and safely.

Weatherization Services

Weatherization is the final piece of the puzzle of your energy audit. The energy audit creates a map of your home and allows theweatherization work to be done in the most cost effective manner. Once the energy analysis report is compiled, the home owner will be presented with a comprehensive report that will outline the most cost effective path for the weatherization work. The report will include all of the information from the energy audit analysis, along with a list of weatherization and energy retrofits.

Breath easier - Indoor Air Quality

Be sure that your home has fresh, clean air through proper ventilation. Indoor Air Quality is one of the top health and safety items involved in an energy audit. Most homes are leaking enough air that indoor air quality does not come in to play with regards to minimum ventilation requirements. However there are still contaminants that enter the home through moisture related issues, air from attics and crawl spaces along with hazardous materials stored in the basement or throughout the home.
