If it starts running when there\u2019s clearly no reason, there could be a clog in the pump (most likely mold or mildew), or another problem. Either way, this isn\u2019t how it\u2019s supposed to run.<\/li><li><strong>Cracks and Visible Damage: <\/strong>Cracks mean your sump pump isn\u2019t watertight, so it can\u2019t do its job properly. If you notice that the bin is cracked and can\u2019t be patched up with a quick solution, it needs to be replaced.<\/li><li><strong>Slow Draining: <\/strong>You know how fast it\u2019s supposed to work, so when you notice that it\u2019s taking its sweet time to pump water out of the basement and away from the foundation, it\u2019s a cause for concern.<\/li><li><strong>No Draining: <\/strong>You need to rely on your sump pump, and while it sounds like it\u2019s running, it\u2019s just not draining at all.
