Barron Heating & Air Conditioning, Inc. was founded by Dan and Vivian Barron in 1972. The Company continues today as a locally owned and operated family business. The son of a journeyman sheet metal worker, Dan began his apprenticeship in the Seattle area in the early 1950’s. He was working in Whatcom County for a Seattle-based shop when he and his wife, Vivian, decided the time was right to start their own business.
Initially, Barron Heating served the residential new construction market in the greater Bellingham and Sudden Valley areas. Like most start-ups, the family garage became the shop and Vivian’s kitchen table became the office. Today, with over 125 employees, Barron’s primary service areas include Whatcom, Skagit, Island, San Juan and Snohomish counties.
Numerous special projects have also been completed out of state. Business activities are divided into distinct operating divisions and departments. They include Residential (replacement & new construction), Commercial, Hydronics (radiant floor), Retail (hearth & spa), Service & Maintenance, Building & Home Performance, and Fabrication. Barron Heating has occupied its present showroom, corporate office, and fabrication facility in Ferndale since June of 2009, after moving from the original Bellingham location where it operated for over 30 years. A second location was established in Skagit County (Burlington) in the early 1980’s and a third location (Marysville) opened in 2015 to service Snohomish County customers.
As a third-generation sheet metal worker, John Barron began his HVAC career working as a part-time helper in the family business. The early 1980’s saw him progress from a sheet metal trainee, through the apprenticeship program, to become a journeyman mechanic. After several years of installation experience, he moved into sales and in 1991 he took over sales management responsibilities as Vice President of Sales. As the business continued to grow and prosper, John assumed many additional management responsibilities. In 1998 he took over the position of President and CEO of Barron Heating & Air Conditioning, Inc.
Dan and Vivian began a business tradition based on quality, honesty, and personalized service that served their employees, customers, and the community. Upon their retirement in 1998, ownership of Barron Heating & Air Conditioning, Inc. was transferred to John and long-time Company Controller, Bill Pinkey. By adhering to these same values, John and Bill presided over the continued growth of Barron Heating. Upon Bill Pinkey’s retirement in 2018, John became the sole owner of the Company. The long history of growth and service continues today under the leadership of John Barron, the Executive Team (including Brad Barron, a Professional Engineer, and fourth-generation Barron) and a strong Leadership Team.
While Barron Heating & Air Conditioning, Inc. provides a wide range of comfort, indoor air quality and energy solutions to the community, our primary mission is to provide unparalleled customer service and develop lifelong relationships with our customers.
