History and About Us

Barron Heating was founded in 1972 by Dan and Vivian Barron. We’re a locally owned and family run business with a commitment to the communities we serve here in Bellingham, WA and throughout Northwest Washington. Dan began his apprenticeship in the Seattle area in the early 1950s as the son of a journeyman sheet metal worker. He and his wife, Vivian, decided it was the right time to start their own business when he was working in Whatcom County for a Seattle-based shop.

Barron Heating, as it was known then, started out serving the residential new construction needs of homeowners in the greater Bellingham and Sudden Valley areas. Similar to most start-ups, the business started in their home, with the garage being the shop and the kitchen table being the office. Today, Barron Heating AC Electrical & Plumbing has over 215 employees and our primary service areas along the I-5 corridor from Blaine to Marysville, Oak Harbor to Concrete, and the San Juan Islands.

Barron, your full-service HVAC, Electrical and Plumbing Contractor.

Our Vision & Mission: Improving Lives™!
Barron is a people-first, community-centered company that strives to improve lives by providing our neighbors with WholeHome™ comfort, health, and energy solutions.

At Barron, we pride ourselves on our community involvement, primarily locally in our corner of the Pacific Northwest. Our business activities are divided into distinct operation divisions and departments, including Residential (replacement and new construction), Commercial, Hydronics (radiant floor), Retail (hearth), Service and Maintenance, Building and Home Performance, and Fabrication.

After moving from our original Bellingham location, where Barron operated for over 30 years, Barron Heating AC Electrical & Plumbing now operates a showroom, corporate office, and fabrication facility out of Ferndale, WA since June 2009. A second location was established in Skagit County (Burlington) in the early 1980s.

3 Generations: Brad, Dan & John Barron 2017

About John Barron

Vivian & Dan Barron 1972

John Barron, the current owner, is a third-generation sheet metal worker. He began his HVAC career working part-time in the family business, and progressing in the 1980s from a sheet metal trainee through the apprenticeship program to become a journeyman mechanic.

He moved into sales after several years of installation experience, and took over sales management responsibilities as Barron Heating’s Vice President of Sales in 1991. The business continued to grow and prosper, and John assumed a number of additional responsibilities until 1998, when he took over the position of President and CEO of Barron Heating AC Electrical & Plumbing.

John Barron assumed ownership of Barron upon Dan and Vivian’s retirement in 1998, along with long-time Company Controller, Bill Pinkey. Adhering to the values that Barron started with, our owners exhibit quality, honesty, and personalized service for all employees, customers, and communities that we serve. John and Bill presided over the continued growth of Barron together, until 2018 when John became the sole owner following Bill Pinkey’s retirement.
