Nolan and Leigh exceeded my expectations and found a difficult problem with my system. Very excellent. Good communication.
We put in Solar panels and a heat pump system this year, both installed by Barron's. A major expense. I researched several companies, as well as the types of equipment each was suggesting. I received several estimates.
Barron's was not necessarily the cheapest.
However, their level of knowledge, responsiveness and clarity set them apart. The brands and reputations of the equipment were excellent. Overall, we are very satisfied with their work in both areas.
Things went very well with the solar installation and we have generated lots of our own power since January. The system appears to have been well designed, excellent solar units were used and it is barely visible.
Things did not go as well with the HVAC heat pump. At the end of several days the technician showed me a mistake he had made, causing a motherboard to blow out on the main unit.
Several other delays followed so that it took two months longer to get our system up and running. During that time the weather fortunately cooperated, though we were a bit chilly at times while waiting. A heat wave could have been a serious problem.
However, I give Barron's high marks despite this. First, they did not try to conceal their error. They made every effort to repair it in a timely manner, but new issues arose. They stayed in contact with me and ultimately replaced the unit at their own expense.
The system works almost silently throughout our home.
In the end, the only issues I have with the whole process are two problems with communication:
-We were not adequately informed that two lights in two upstairs rooms would have to be sacrificed for the ductless unit placement and that there was no immediate way to move them to another site. We noticed this issue on our own and informed Barron's. The result is that there is visible wiring under each unit and no replacement light, both awaiting an electrician and sheet rocking. This should have been pointed out in their assessment.
- We had wall/floor vents from our prior system that we did not want to use. We wanted floor vents to replace them. We were not informed ahead of time that the old ones would be left in place after the new ones had been installed.
Barron's did come to our home and inspected our concerns. In retrospect we understand the reasons that these decisions were made. However, since we were not informed ahead of time, we could not process this in our decision making and felt blindsided.
Overall, we recommend Barron highly. I judge a company not so much by how it behaves when all goes well, but rather how it behaves when things do not go as planned. Barron's was honest, forthcoming, responsive and cooperative. We have already recommended Barron's to others.

I had the opportunity and pleasure to discuss in detail my solar needs with Sam. I had thoroughly questioned him (given my deep technical background) and to my surprise, I was very impressed with the depth of his technical knowledge, skill, and his ability to work with people. I was amazed and impressed with how Ben had organized and ran his crew. His execution during the install was flawless! I will highly recommend and be advocate for Barron for solar installation. I am a repeat customer. I had a ductless heating & AC system installed early this year at my home.
From start to finish, Barron services were impressive and thorough—from assessing our 1897 newly purchased home, laying out a duct plan, installing new ducts and cleaning the entire system. I highly recommend Barron and would choose them again!
The competence and integrity of the company that installs your new furnace is more important than the furnace itself. Barron stands behind their work and their word and their technical, financial, and administrative staff are the most professional I have ever worked with…When I was researching companies to replace my 31-year-old gas furnace, a representative from a large home improvement supplier quoted Barron as the ‘gold standard’. I can now say from personal experience that I am in full agreement.
