What to Know about Current Home Services Supply Change Challenges

The last 18 months have been challenging for everyone. The Home Performance Experts at Barron have worked diligently to ensure that our customers throughout Northwest Washington continue to receive top-notch home services—especially during a time where we are spending more time indoors than ever before.

As the pandemic continues to bring upon new challenges, the home services industry is dealing with an equipment shortage and an increase in demand for HVAC services. This raises a couple of questions from homeowners:

  • When is the best time to have equipment installed?
  • When should you have maintenance done?

Please know that Barron has been working diligently so that equipment shortages and inventory issues will not have a major impact on your home’s comfort, especially for essential services like heating, water heating, and power solutions equipment.

Nevertheless, the current situation has impacted most brands across the country. This is not a permanent situation—eventually, the supply chain will return to normal. In the meantime, we expect to see continued challenges for 12-18 months and because of this Barron is working overtime to make sure we can supply you with the essential services your need as we head into the fall and winter season.

When to Have Equipment Installed

The best time to have equipment installed is before you need it! Of course, this isn’t always easy to figure out. But if you have an aging HVAC system, for instance, (10-15 years old) and it’s been working inefficiently or having a lot of repair issues, then the best time to start looking into a replacement and getting an installation scheduled is now.

Handling this ASAP means even though you may have to wait for equipment availability, you’re more likely to get the system or systems that you want for your home. Waiting until your HVAC system completely breaks down means you have to rush to replace it, at a time that your ideal replacement system may not be available.

When to Schedule Maintenance

You should have maintenance scheduled ASAP. Whether it’s for your air conditioner or heating system, maintenance should be done once a year. Maintenance enables our technicians to fully inspect your system and check for signs of repair needs, but also if the system is ready for replacement. This service can give you a heads up that it’s time to consider an upgrade, so you can avoid the risk of sudden breakdown like we mentioned above.
